Your dog stays in a house, not a kennel
No block, no run, no concrete. Waggy Tails is my family home near Northowram, and the dogs live in it while they are with me.
I'm Diane Carter. The person who opens the door is the person who has your dog all day, and that does not change from one week to the next.
The licence, the council's rating and my qualifications sit alongside this and stay put while you read. They are the part worth checking, so I've made them hard to miss.
Somewhere to run, and somewhere to go
"Is the garden secure?" is the first question I get asked, every time. It is large, it is properly fenced, and I'll walk you round it before you decide anything.
Beyond the fence, Wheatley Road backs onto open country. Walks are countryside, parks and nature reserves rather than laps of a housing estate.
In warm weather the paddling pool goes out on the lawn. It is not sophisticated and the dogs adore it.
Monday to Friday, quarter to eight until half five
Drop off from 07:45 on the way to work and collect by 17:30. Full weeks or one day a week, whichever suits your shifts.
In between there's the garden, the other dogs, a walk and a long sleep. You get back a dog with nothing left in the tank.
Weekends are for dogs staying over. Do check the times when you ring, in case something has moved.
A night, a week, or the whole fortnight you're away
A wedding, a hospital stay, an awkward shift — that's short-term boarding. Two weeks in Spain is holiday boarding. The arrangement is the same either way.
Nothing changes for the dog. Same house, same garden, same routine they already know. That is why most of my boarders start off as day care dogs.
Every dog who stays here is treated as part of the family. A kennel cannot offer that, and shouldn't pretend to.
Photos, videos and how the day is going
The worst bit of the first week is not the dog's. It's you at your desk at eleven o'clock, wondering.
"I understand that it can be hard to leave your dog. To give you peace of mind I can send photos, videos and updates on your dog's day."
Diane Carter, Waggy Tails.
Say what you'd like and you'll get it. One picture at lunchtime, or a message every time something happens. It's a conversation, not a subscription.
Six things, one house, one person
Asking what it costs? Tell me the dog, the days you need and how long for. I'll quote you on the phone while we're talking, before anything is booked.
Bring the dog, see the garden, ask what you like
No dog should arrive somewhere cold on the first morning, so come round first. Ring me on 07123 456789, or send the form and I'll come back to you. I'm on Nextdoor too.
