Nothing under that one. Go back to Everything, or ring and describe the job.

If the top is fine and only the edges have gone, back and sides at half an hour does it. If the whole lot needs shortening and setting, book the haircut and blow dry.

Hair and beard is the pair done together in the hour, so the lines round the jaw match what has happened above them. Ring if you would rather talk it through first.

Let us know a day ahead if you can't make it. Cancel inside 24 hours and it may be charged in full, because the chair stands empty.

First time in?

Nobody minds if you don't know the words for it. Say what you want gone and what you want left, and the rest gets filled in as it goes.

Fades run on grade numbers. Skin at the very bottom, then one, two and three as it works up the head. A taper is the gentler version: short at the neck and round the ear, blended out quickly.

Mention how you dry it as well. Product and half a minute with a hairdryer change how a cut sits more than most people expect. If you never touch either, say so. There is no point cutting in a shape that only holds with a comb in your hand.

  • Grade numbers, or just bring a photo
  • Card and cash both fine
  • Children welcome, and used to them
  • Skin fades, scissor work and everything either side
  • Hot towel finish on beard work

Detail

The finish.

The last five minutes are the ones people notice: the neckline, round the ears, and the edge of the beard.

A neckline can be squared off or left natural, and it changes how the cut ages. Square looks sharp for a fortnight, then the regrowth shows as a hard line. Natural stays tidy for longer but never looks quite as crisp on day one.

Say which you prefer while the clippers are still in the drawer. It is a thirty-second conversation that decides how the next three weeks look.

Ring before a special trip if you want a particular time.

The shop runs on appointments, so it is worth ringing rather than turning up and hoping. If nothing is free on the day you wanted, there is usually something later in the week. Weekend slots go first, wherever you go.
