Plastering, domestic and commercial
Houses, flats, shops and units. The trade is identical; it is the timing that differs on a working premises.
MMJ Plastering Services is run by Martin, with family working alongside him. The man who prices the job is the man on the wall.
Ceilings, walls, damp proof courses and making good after other trades. Houses and commercial premises, from Sowerby Bridge out across the Calder Valley.
A short list, and an honest one. If a job falls outside it, we will say so rather than have a go.
Houses, flats, shops and units. The trade is identical; it is the timing that differs on a working premises.
Cracked, sagging, or pulling away from the joists. Saved where it can be, down and replaced where it cannot.
One wall after a chimney breast comes out, or all four in a room. Flat and even, ready for paint or paper.
Where a wall is pulling damp up out of the ground, the course goes in before any new plaster.
Sockets chased in, pipework buried, the hole where a radiator used to sit. Filled and blended back in.
A house done in stages, so there is always a room left to sit in.
Nobody rings a plasterer excited about plaster. They ring worried about the mess, so here is the honest version.
Nearly all of it comes off the old work, an old ceiling worst of all. Putting plaster on is wet work and makes very little.
Floors sheeted, furniture into the middle and covered, doorways sealed. Waste is bagged as it comes down.
Fresh plaster looks finished well before it is. It has to go pale right through, corners included, before paint.
How long the room is out of use turns on its size, the season and how much went on. Whoever is stood in it can tell you.
Plain expectations, written down so you can hold us to them.
On the day and time agreed. If something moves you get a phone call, not a morning spent waiting in.
You get a finish date we believe in. If it runs quicker, you get the room back sooner.
Sheets folded inwards, waste in the van, floors hoovered. The room comes back liveable, even before it is ready for paint.
Quoted after a look, never down the phone. What you agree is what you pay, unless you ask for more.
We are based in Sowerby Bridge and work across Calderdale and the Calder Valley. Up the valley, down towards Halifax, and the villages in between. If you are on the edge of that, ring and ask.
There is no shop to call in at, because the work is in your house. It starts with a phone call and a look at the room.
Ring Martin on 07123 456789, or send the details here and we will arrange a look. A photo of the ceiling saves a lot of describing.
Every quote comes from standing in the room: how big it is, how much is coming off, and whether we are working round furniture. The figure is agreed before anything starts.
Those are the usual hours. Ring first if you are planning your day round them.
