Grooming

Which one do you book?

Most people ring not knowing what to ask for, which is fine. Filter by the kind of visit you think you need, or leave it on everything and read down the list. If none of it quite fits, say what the dog looks like and we'll work it out.

Full groom

Full groom

Book this once the coat has grown out. Curly and wavy coats keep growing, so they generally want doing every six to eight weeks.

Bath & blow dry

Bath & blow dry

For a short coat, or a long one that's kept brushed at home. Also the answer after a walk that ended in a bog.

Puppy first visit

Puppy first visit

Best booked soon after their second vaccinations. Getting them used to the water and the dryer early saves years of arguing about it.

De-shed

De-shed treatment

The one for huskies, collies, labs and anything else covering the sofa in spring. It's a bath and a full blow-out, and their topcoat is left alone, because shaving a double coat does no favours.

Nails & tidy-up

Nails, ears & tidy-ups

A quick in-and-out between grooms. Nails little and often is far easier on a dog than a big cut every few months.

Full groom

Matted coats

Ring and describe it rather than worrying about it. Some mats comb out and some have to come off as part of a full groom, and that's a decision made with you.

Nothing under that one. Go back to Everything — or ring and describe the dog, and we'll tell you which to book.

In the salon

Calm makes all the difference.

A quiet room does more for a nervous dog than anything else we could offer. Brushing at home helps too, right down to the skin rather than over the top of the coat.

Booking in

What to do before you come.

Nothing complicated, but four small things make the appointment easier on everybody, especially the dog.

Step oneRing with the details

Breed, age, and anything worth knowing — nervous of the dryer, sore hips, doesn't like his feet touched.

Step twoGet the price agreed

You'll know what the groom involves and what it costs before the dog comes anywhere near the table.

Step threeWalk them first

A walk beforehand takes the edge off and gives them chance to empty out. Skip the big breakfast.

Step fourLeave the time free

A full groom takes a couple of hours for most dogs, longer for a big or thick coat. We'll ring when they're ready.

Ask about a slot

Grooming is priced on the dog, not on a list: size, coat type, condition and how long it's been all move it. Say the breed and when they were last done, and you'll have a price before you commit to anything.
